Floyd Mayweather Sr. thinks People’s Champ Manny Pacquiao will get a hell of a ride should he decide to fight his ward British boxing superstar Ricky Hatton.
He said Pacquiao’s camp should be careful for what they ask, they might eventually get what they want.
“If they want Rick, they’re going to get Rick and it won’t end pretty for them,” Mayweather Sr. told IronBoxing.com’s John Martinez.
The Filipino’s coach Freddie Roach was quoted by PhilBoxing.com as saying that Hatton will be the next good fight for Pacquiao.
“Regardless of money, I want Hatton to be the next fight for Manny. I don’t want a boring fight,” he said.
Mayweather Sr. echoed Roach’s sentiment, but added a different twist: “I love this fight for Rick. We will dismantle Pacquiao, Guaranteed.”
What went wrong for de la Hoya
Mayweather Sr., meanwhile, blamed Oscar de la Hoya’s loss to Pacquiao to his coaches.
“Well the record now speaks for itself. They (Oscar’s trainers, Berstein and Angelo Dundee) did all this talking into their microphones for the media, but couldn’t do anything when it came down to the real thing.”
Mayweather Sr. added that there was something wrong in de la Hoya’s training camp.
“I can tell you is that it wasn’t all Oscar’s fault. I know personally of two things that went on in Oscar’s training camp. There was a lot of stuff that went on in camp that was counter productive to Oscar’s training,” said the controversial fight coach.
Mayweather Sr. alluded to signs that the fight was lost long before de la Hoya stepped into the ring.
“I have never seen Oscar hunch over in a corner the way he did that night. It shouldn’t have happened like that. There was no excuse for him to have taken that beating. Thirty-five is not that old these days in boxing. Oscar hasn’t had that much damage done to his body in the ring before this.”
